Fundraising Ideas

Successful fundraising is vital to BSVI, as it does not receive unconditional funding from any source locally or nationally to cover the ever increasing costs necessary to run its Centre and services to blind and partially sighted people in Bournemouth.

Currently we have several fundraising activities underway and BSVI has some ideas which may encourage you to organise your own event. It is hoped that one or two of these may inspire you to get involved. You can be assured that all proceeds raised through any fundraising event and activity will go to BSVI unless otherwise specified.

All of these ideas can raise money! Most don’t take much organising but do please remember to leave time to plan and give your friends, colleagues and neighbours plenty of notice for their diaries.

If you could help by doing just one of these suggestions or by using one of your own ideas, you would be providing much needed funds for BSVI.  Any help you can give us will be very much appreciated.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Pink Elephant Collection Boxes

BSVI’s cute Pink Elephant collection Boxes need a good home where they will be filled up with loose change in order to raise money for the Charity. Can you help by finding a suitable home for an Elephant either in a newsagent, your local convenience store or local pub? As you know every little helps, and the more collection boxes BSVI distributes, the greater its profile will be raised in the local community.

Sponsored Sporting Activity

Do you belong to a sports team or club?  If so,  see if you can arrange for them to organise a sponsored match or event with the proceeds going to BSVI.  It would be great publicity for both your team or club and BSVI.

Alternatively if you are not part of a team or club but you are good at and enjoy a particular sport, get your friends, relatives and colleagues to sponsor you for a particular event such as a walk, run or swim.

Coffee Mornings

Invite friends and neighbours over for coffee and homemade cakes and charge a small entrance fee.

You could build on this and ask people to bring a good used paperback or small unwanted gift that others could buy for nominal amounts.

Entertain your friends!

If you love cooking lay on a gorgeous lunch, buffet or formal dinner for your friends and charge them for the entry. They will be delighted to enjoy your lovely food whilst making a donation to a good cause at the same time.

Garden Party / open day

If you have a lovely garden, consider holding a summer garden party for your friends, relatives and neighbours.  Offer your guests afternoon tea and charge them for entry.

Alternatively you could have an open day, inviting your friends to look around your garden for a fee.  You could also offer them the opportunity to buy small plants or cuttings and offer them refreshments for a small charge.

Garage Sale

Get together with some friends and sell unwanted items such as clothes, books, ornaments and gifts through a garage sale or jumble sale in your garden and donate the proceeds to BSVI.

Guess the name of the teddy!

Ask a local hotel or pub to hold a ‘Name the Teddy’ Competition. You will need to provide the Teddy and a list of names with the winning name in a sealed envelope to be left with the Manager or landlord.  Charge £1 a guess with the Winner getting the Teddy. You could ask local shops to donate or reduce the price of the teddy.

Sweets in a jar

Fill a clear jar with favourite sweets. Charge 50p to guess how many there are. The winner gets the jar. Try approaching your local pub, club or school for their support.

Pamper Day

Do you know of a good hairdresser or beautician who would be prepared to offer their services free of charge for a good cause? If so, hold a Pamper Day for  you and your friends to get together and have a wash and blow dry or a manicure whilst sipping wine and having a gossip!
