Social Activities
BSVI offers its members a full programme of social activities which are planned quarterly in advance. These include centre based activities and outings which are popular with our older members, and craft sessions and more lively events which are enjoyed by our younger 'Tuesday Group' members. Subsidised transport is available for members living within the Borough of Bournemouth.
BSVI provides a coffee morning, lunch and an activity each Monday and Thursday and a cards afternoon on a Wednesday. Members enjoy chatting and socialising during the coffe morning and popular afternoon activities include bingo, quiz, horse racing and music enjoyment.

Several times a year BSVI invites other organisations into the Centre to talk to the Members on topical issues. In addition we offer Extend exercise classes and hold exhibitions of equipment specially designed for the visually impaired. Every two months there is a Members Forum meeting which is the members opportunity to express their views and put forward ideas for future activities and outings.

During the summer months BSVI arranges outings to events or places of interest in the surrounding area. Popular outings are pub lunch, cream tea and beach hut picnic days and Members regularly enjoy visits to places such as Wimborne Minster, Russell Cotes Museum and theatre trips.

BSVI has recently set up a drop in Cafe from 10.00 to 12.00 on a Tuesday morning which is open to any active, young at heart visually impaired person in the Bournemouth area who would like to call in. The group share information, offer an informal support network and organise their own programme of events. Popular activities include greyhound racing, tenpin bowling, skittles, entertainment afternoons, day trips and evening disco's when a good time is had by all.
In addition, the Group have set up a Craft group and have produced some excellent work some of which has been exhibited at Christchurch Priory and is now proudly displayed in the BSVI Cafe.

All BSVI members living within the Borough of Bournemouth are entitled to our subsidised transport service. Members are collected from their homes and brought into the Centre in BSVI's new Minibus.
The Minibus is also used to take members on theatre trips, outings and visits to local places of interest.
BSVI offers its members a two course lunch each Monday and Thursday. Lunches are booked in advance and Members can choose from the following:

All Centre based activities are subject to one of the following daily charges:
Payment is made on the day on arrival at the Centre.
Outings and activities away from the Centre are charged per outing and are payable in advance.
All BSVI Members receive a quarterly activities calendar which contains the planned activities and outings for the following three months. Members then choose which activities they would like to join and book their place either by telephoning the Services office or in person at the Centre. At the same time, members would also book transport and/or lunch, as required.
A few days before the activitity the Services office telephones the member advising their pick up time for transport and if it is a lunch day, advising the menu available so the member can make their selection.
Members are encouraged to book their places on activities and outings as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
